Norway Means Business Recap

On October 16th, NorCham DC hosted the 4th annual "Norway Means Business” event at the Norwegian Embassy. This year's theme was Critical Minerals, coinciding with the Memorandum of Understanding recently signed by Secretary Blinken and Norwegian Foreign Minister Eide.

The afternoon event featured welcome remarks by Ambassador Anniken Huitfeldt, keynote addresses by Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Cecilie T. Myrseth and Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt, and reflections from NorCham DC President Idar Voldnes.

In her speech, Ambassador Huitfeldt highlighted the ongoing bilateral cooperation on critical mineral supply chains. Minister Myrseth noted that Norway is rich in minerals crucial for defense and technology, and that the MoU will be important for securing their future. Assistant Secretary Pyatt remarked that the MoU can be a launch pad for deeper cooperation between the United States and Norway.

Peter Stahley, Senior Vice President at Cassidy & Associates then moderated an industry panel featuring Allison Kennedy Thurmond, Vice President of U.S. Lithium, Equinor, Seth Levey, Head of U.S. Government Relations and Corporate Affairs, Glencore, Karl Fossum, Director of Customer Programs, Norsk Titanium, and Heather Armentrout, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace USA.

Thank you to our keynote speakers, panelists, and attendees for making the night a success.
