Moderator: Bjorn Rektorli is a Fortune 500 finance executive with more than three decades of extensive global operational experience in the wireless communication industry, having served General Electric, Motorola and Brightstar, a Softbank mobile device company. He holds a Bachelor in Economics (Sivilokonom) from the Copenhagen Business School. He has held country, regional and global finance roles including financial planning & analysis, business controllership, chief financial officer and executive management positions in support of business start-ups and expansion of manufacturing and distribution plants and capacities in the Americas, Europe, Middle-East, China and Malaysia Bjorn is active in the Norwegian-American community in Chicago and has served on multiple non-for-profit boards. He was elected President of NACC - Chicago in January 2020 Panelists: Susan Meyer was appointed in 2019 as Norway’s Honorary Consul for Illinois. In this role, she assists with consular affairs and helps to facilitate development of business, cultural, and educational relations between Norway and the U.S. In her legal practice, she frequently advises companies on matters related to commerce between the U.S. and Scandinavia. Susan advises businesses in the areas of intellectual property, franchising and distribution, and corporate law, assisting businesses in every stage of development. Susan is a past president of the Chicago Chapter of the Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) and twice attended the SelectUSA Investment Summit on international trade opportunities as a member of the Norwegian delegation. She is an active member of the Norwegian-American Defense and Homeland Security Industry Council (NADIC). Susan serves on the board of Women Entrepreneurs Grow Global (WEGG), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women-owned businesses expand internationally. Donald Garner founded the LL.M. Law Group in 2003. He obtained his Master of International Laws degree cum laude while on a Fulbright Scholarship for the European Union in 2001. He obtained his Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000 where he served as Chief Justice of the Moot Court program. In 2004, Mr. Garner was elected the youngest President the history of the Rotary Club of Chicago, the world’s first Rotary Club established in 1905. He currently serves as the President of the Rotary Alumni Association for Northern Illinois. He is the Past President and Consular Corps Liaison of the Fulbright Association. Mr. Garner is the recommended service provider for U.S. business immigration law issues for the Chicago International Trade Commissioners Association. His work, passion, and training are daily devoted to bringing people together from all over the world. The Chicago Sun-Times called him a “top immigration attorney.” He has appeared on national and international television, radio and newspapers. Mr. Garner is called upon for advice and law lectures by many local and multinational businesses and governmental groups.
